Belated 4th of July Post

John Adams to Abigail in a letter on July 3,1776 regarding the Fourth of July...
"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."
What a wonderful worship service on Sunday as they read aloud this quote and we proceeded to worship God Almighty not only for the freedom we have in this country but for our deliverence because of HIS grace and mercy.

As we too often take for granted our freedom, we also forget what it is we truly deserve but have not received because of what HE did in our place. Just as our soldiers fight for our constant freedom, Jesus paid the ultimate penalty for our freedom. May the words written in 2 Corinthians 5:21 always be at the forefront of our mind...
"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (ESV)
